EMG and MEDICAL CARE FOR NEUROLOGICAL CONDITIONS
The purpose of Electromyography (EMG) is to assess if there is a problem in the muscle and peripheral nervous systems and if yes, pinpoint where the problem is. It is a diagnostic procedure frequently used for individuals with tingling, numbness, muscle weakness, and pain. EMG includes Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) and needle (disposable) testing. When a physician refers a person for EMG, Dr. Ma will perform the test. She or he will follow up with the ordering doctor after the test.
Dr. Ma earned her medical doctor's degree from Beijing Medical University. She interned in the Department of Medicine, Univ. of Connecticut Health Center. She completed a neurology residency and a fellowship both at Univ. of California Davis.
Neurologist Dr. Lin Ma
Dr. Lin Ma has been licensed by the Medical Board of California since 1995. She is certified by the American Board of Neurology and by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
In addition to EMG, Dr. Ma cares for patients with neurological conditions such as headache, facial pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, neuropathy, loss of consciousness, numbness, seizure, stroke, memory loss, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, Parkinson's disease, dizziness, double vision, loss of balance, tremor, and multiple sclerosis.
